Bodhi Surf launched its very own Travelers’ Philanthropy Program back in 2014, inspired by pioneers in the responsible travel industry such as the Center for Responsible Travel. We chose to start our own Travelers’ Philanthropy Program to ensure any funds we could raise would remain within our community and be allocated to projects or organizations that we can see firsthand are doing good work and need extra assistance. Watch the video below to learn how Bodhi Surf, our guests, and local non-profits are joining forces to work towards ensuring a healthy environment and community in Bahia Ballena – Uvita:
Bodhi Surf School helps to foster a sense of long-term investment between its guests and the community through its Travelers’ Philanthropy Program in a variety of different ways, which ensures that we are giving back and contributing to the improvement of this special place that we call home. Breaking away from the traditional model of soliciting funds directly from patrons, Bodhi Surf provides each surf and yoga camp guest with a $20 donation gift card. Upon redemption of the gift card, guests are given the opportunity to match or add to the donation that supports our local community. The funds are channeled to three locally operating NGOs:
- Forjando Alas – an after school educational program for the community’s youth
- ASANA – a local conservation organization working along Costa Rica’s central and southern Pacific coast
- Geoporter – a GPS/GIS technology education non-profit
With Bodhi Surf School you can not only enjoy a week-long surf and yoga camp, but you will be contributing to the projects mentioned above. Inquire about availability today and start planning your surfing and yoga vacation:
A truly symbiotic relationship
At Bodhi Surf we understand that the three entities — community, business, and traveler — must have a mutually beneficial relationship to ensure continued success. Our guests, in choosing us, are in essence “dollar voting” for corporate responsibility by giving their business to a company that is rooted in environmentalism, marine conservation, community involvement, and culturally enriching experiences.
