Yoga at Espiritu Salvaje Center in Uvita

Costa Rica yoga centerSo, let me start by saying that when it comes to practicing yoga, I believe any space can work out as long as your heart is in there and you feel you can be present. But definitely, some places have a special aura that can make your experience more special and spiritual, a place that that can bring you peace and contentment only by looking at it, and one of those places for me is “Espiritu Salvaje Yoga Center” at La Cusinga Eco lodge.

Ideal Location

Built on a top of a hill facing Mother Ocean and all its greatness, nestled on the forest embracing all its sounds and rhythm, it is a place of tranquility and total harmony with nature. What I appreciate the most about this place is that every single detail was very well thought out from the very beginning. John Tresemer the owner of the lodge and a very interesting person whose simplicity and pure heart you notice from the moment you meet him, picked the exact place where the structure was built, and he chose that spot because he believes ever since he bought the land and moved there during the seventies, that is has a special energy, and it has been an area where he would go to meditate and rest. The place has a geometrical design named “the flower of life” that goes in accordance with Sacred Geometry and Sacred architecture principles for implosion as movement towards concentration, aggregation and unification to honor Yoga’s fundamental psychological and spiritual intention. It is an open space that allows you to feel the breeze as you practice and I may add, it is the best wooden floor I have ever felt in my life!

Four Elements Present

All four elements: air, water, earth and fire were incorporated into the design in different ways playing to create a unique and inspirational atmosphere. The border of the yoga platform is surrounded by a rock wall, which contains a canal where water passes softly and creates a sound that resembles a flowing creek. Another detail that I found very thoughtful and that matches with the yoga philosophy of being conscious and kind with nature, is that they used building materials present on the farm, such as timber from the reforestation project and rock in order to have a low impact upon the environment. The site has an extraordinary view of Ballena Bay and Uvita Point, surrounded by the Quebrada Grande Stream and the forest of La Cusinga Lodge. Its isolation and freedom from modern artificial audio/visual distractions is a desired condition, as well as being next to the Ballena Marine National Park, the first whale environment preservation national park in Costa Rica.

But what I would like to emphasize about the experience of practicing yoga there is that every time I go there, whether it is to teach a class or to do my practice, when I am there moving thru every posture, I feel like I am flowing into grace, I find it easier to connect with my inner peace and as I come back home I feel my energy has been renewed and my heart is full of joy. It is definitely an experience worth living. So after seeing all this, I would definitely have to agree with John Tresemer, Espiritu Salvaje is settled in a special place, and practicing yoga there is a unique and unforgettable experience.

Ommmmm!
