“My friends and I went to Playa Uvita to get surf lessons with Bodhi Surf School for the weekend. It was great! If you are coming to Costa Rica to learn how to surf or find a great place for intermediate waves, this is where you want to go. The instructors are fun, chill and motivational. The beach is absolutely gorgeous! You are in a national marine park so the scenary is beautiful. There are many places to surf in Costa Rica and I have been to a few but this is really my favorite….its a must, check it out! Pura vida.”

“As someone who had never surfed before, I was both nervous and excited to try it out. I found that the instructor Gibran was very helpful and patient and turned the surfing lesson into a really enjoyable experience. It also was even more valuable to me knowing that by taking a lesson with the Bodhi Surf School, a local youth would also receive a lesson. My inner surfer was definitely awakened that day and I can’t wait to surf again!”

“Taking lessons with Bodhi Surf was really fun. Travis broke down our lesson into easy steps, took us right out to the water and helped us improve until we were able to get up on the boards. I´ve taken 2 surf lessons before, but nobody´s paid attention to the details of where we need to put our feet or how we need to fall like Travis did.
After surfing, my friends and I took a yoga lesson with Pilar on the beach during sunset to relax our muscles. She was a great teacher, using nature as her studio. It made for a perfect day. Two thumbs up!”

“A few weeks ago, I had the time of my life surfing in Bahía Ballena with a couple of my closest girlfriends. I always heard that it takes a few days to get up on board but I was up within an hour. Travis brakes down the steps and makes it easy and fun to surf. Just a few minutes on the beach connecting to the board and the rest of the time was spent in the water. From knowing nothing I ended the day paddling out, turning myself around, pushing off with the wave, and surfing down to the beach. I’m hooked. I can’t wait to get back on top of the world. Later that day, my friends and I practiced an hour of yoga. Pilar led us through various satisfying poses as the sky turned from blue, to pink, to orange. It was idyllic. I stretched out every muscle that was sore from surfing. To wind down the session, we laid breathing on the beach listening to surf and birds. Pilar came around rubbing our necks with a delicious scent she created. This deepened our breathing and brought us all to an even higher level of relaxation. The perfect close to an active and soulful day.”

“Surfing with Travis is awesome. I’ve surfed all over Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast with him and I’ve had a blast every time. Travis knows the hidden breaks and the locals too, so I’ve been able to surf uncrowded breaks in peace. As an intermediate surfer I’ve always felt comfortable knowing Travis is in the water nearby, making sure I don’t get myself in over my head. I highly recommend you surf with Travis if you get a chance. Or at the very least, have a beer with him and kick back and listen to his many tales from living in Costa Rica all these years.”

“I wanted to thank you for giving us the surfing lessons. We had a lot fun and felt like we got our moneys worth. I like how we spent a little time on the sand and more time in the water. Also, how you had another instructor helping the group, which allowed for more one on one time. I think we were all able to get up within an hour!! All in all we had a blast out there and will forever remember Uvita and surf lessons with you!! Take care and Happy New Year!!!”

“Surfing with Travis was amazing! I learned more than I thought I could in one day. Travis gives plenty of attention to make sure you progress as much as possible at your own comfort level. Not to mention that you are surrounded by paradise. Pura Vida!”

“Morning yoga on the beach was definitely a highlight of my trip! I practice yoga at least once a week, but none of my classes will ever compare to the one at Bahia Ballena with Pili. Her energy and love for the practice is contagious. It was such a spiritual and peaceful experience to breath in the ocean air and feel the sun on my body.”
