Bodhi’s very own yoga and surf retreat gives guests a week of learning and fun in one of Costa Rica’s still-pristine regions, the South Pacific Coast. Focusing on the complementing activities of yoga and surfing, guests will leave feeling both invigorated as well as personally gratified. During your week’s stay, you will start the days by waking up at La Cusinga Eco-Lodge, located in the jungle on the hill overlooking the beach where you will be spending a significant portion of your week. After eating a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you will go to your daily surf lesson at Ballena Marine National Park’s safe and uncrowded beach, a perfect place for learning as the waves are optimal for both beginner and intermediate surfers. Afternoons will consist of rejuvenating Vinyasa Flow yoga classes on the platform at La Cusinga Eco-Lodge.
During your free time you can explore the Costa Ballena region by walking down the famous Whale’s Tail, hiking at the local waterfall, or taking in the sights of the local communities. You can also take part in other optional activities such as boat tours, sport fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, and more. If you decide you really want to improve your surf skills during your stay, you also have the option of taking an additional two afternoon surf sessions, for a total of seven lessons during your stay with Bodhi Surf School.

| Day 1 | Travel from San Jose to Bahia Ballena. Check in at the eco-lodge, get settled in and relax after your drive to Bahia Ballena. In the evening members of Bodhi Surf will formally introduce themselves, welcome you to Costa Rica, go over the week’s itinerary, and answer any questions you may have over a welcoming group dinner. |
| Day 2 | Wake-up to the sounds of nature; monkeys, parrots, and other wildlife will be your morning alarm. You will have breakfast at the lodge and then our transportation service will take you to the beach for your first lesson with Bodhi Surf School.
After your surf lesson you will be transported back to the lodge to grab some lunch and further explore the area, or just enjoy your surroundings. Later that afternoon our yoga instructor will meet-up with you for your first yoga class at the spectacular eco-lodge yoga platform. For dinner, eat at La Cusinga’s world-class restaurant, a highlight for many guests. |
| Day 3 | Have breakfast at the lodge and then head to the beach for a second surfing lesson. Your second day of surfing will consist of mastering the basics of surfing.
After lunch at the eco-lodge, head down to the town of Bahia Ballena and take a walk to the natural phenomenon that is Bahia Ballena’s main attraction, the Whale’s Tail. In the late afternoon return to the eco-lodge for your afternoon yoga session overlooking the Pacific Ocean. After yoga, get to know your surf instructor and yoga teacher better during a group dinner at La Cusinga. |
| Day 4 | Wake up early for a ’sunrise’ yoga session to prepare your for an activity-filled day. Have breakfast after yoga and then head to the beach and embark on a half-day boat tour through the Ballena Marine National Park in search of marine wildlife such as whales, dolphins, and sea turtles.
Upon your return from the boat tour head back to the lodge to rest up. After dinner, take a trip to Dominical to enjoy the nightlife of the town. |
| Day 5 | After breakfast at the lodge get to the beach to continue improving your surfing ability. Your surf instructor will be helping you develop the skills you need to surf independently.
After lunch, stop a local arts and crafts shop to get some souvenirs for your friends and family back home. Take a guided tour of the town of Bahia Ballena, learn about the town’s history and community projects taking place. Head back to the ecolodge and end the day with some much needed yoga. Then have dinner at the lodge and spend some time playing games with new friends, or just relaxing in the beautiful setting. |
| Day 6 | Take your yoga class in the morning, then enjoy your daily breakfast at the eco-lodge.
After, you’ll be transported to the beach for your surfing lesson. Your Bodhi Surf instructor will be coaching you to help you catch waves on your own. Grab some lunch and then take a van ride up into the local mountains, where you will then walk down a path to a charming waterfall. Take a dip in the refreshing waters and enjoy the jungle surroundings. Return to the lodge for some rest and relaxation. Have a final group dinner at the lodge with members of Bodhi Surf and reminisce about your experience in Bahia Ballena. |
| Day 7 | Enjoy your last breakfast at the eco-lodge and then make one last trip to the Ballena Marine National Park beach for a final surf lesson with us.
After surfing return to the lodge to pack up and prepare to check-out of the lodge. |
